Privacy Policy

The short version: there is no server to send your data to.

Last updated: 9 September 2026

Claude Toolbox collects nothing, sends nothing to us, and has no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising. Everything it stores stays inside your own browser.

What is stored, and where

Claude Toolbox keeps an index of your Claude conversations so it can search them. That index lives in the extension’s own database, inside your browser profile, on your device. It contains:

  • Conversation titles, summaries, timestamps, project names and model names
  • Message text from the conversations you index
  • Artifacts captured from those conversations, with their version history
  • The folders, tags, pins, notes, links and bookmarks you create
  • Your extension settings

None of this is transmitted anywhere. It is readable only by this extension.

Network requests

The extension makes requests to exactly one origin: https://claude.ai. Those requests run from the claude.ai tab you already have open, using the session you are already signed in with, and they only:

  • list your conversations,
  • read a conversation you asked to index or export,
  • and — when you explicitly ask for it — rename, star, archive or delete a conversation.

There are no requests to any other host. The extension loads no remote code, fonts, scripts or images; every file it runs ships inside the package.

This website

This site is static HTML. It sets no cookies, embeds no third-party scripts, loads no external fonts and runs no analytics. The only thing it stores in your browser is your light/dark theme preference, kept in local storage on your own device. Your web host may keep standard server access logs, as any web server does.

Chrome sync

If you leave cross-device sync on, a small amount of organisation data is written to Chrome’s sync storage, which Chrome replicates between devices signed in to your Google account:

  • folder names, colours and nesting
  • tag names and colours
  • bookmark labels, notes, colours, which message they point at, and a short excerpt
  • which folder and tags each organised conversation belongs to, its title, and its links
  • your extension settings

Conversation message text and artifact contents are not synced. This data is handled by Chrome under Google’s own terms; the developer never receives it and has no way to read it. You can turn sync off in Settings and clear the synced copy with one click.

Permissions, and why each one is needed

PermissionWhy it is needed
storage, unlimitedStorageStore the local index, folders, bookmarks, artifacts and settings, without a size cap that would break on a large history.
alarmsSchedule the periodic background refresh of the conversation list.
contextMenusAdd “Bookmark selection” and the other right-click actions on claude.ai.
https://claude.ai/*Read your conversations to index them, and perform the rename, archive and delete actions you ask for.

The extension requests no other hosts and no other permissions. It cannot read any site other than claude.ai.

Data you export

Exported files — Markdown, text, JSON, ZIP archives and backups — are written by your browser to wherever you choose to save them. The extension does not upload them or keep a copy. The PDF export opens a print-ready page in a new tab and hands off to your browser’s own print dialog.

Deleting your data

  • Settings → Delete all Toolbox data erases the local index, folders, tags, bookmarks and the artifact vault. Your Claude conversations are untouched.
  • Settings → Clear synced copy removes the data held in Chrome sync.
  • Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored in your browser.

Children

Claude Toolbox is a utility for claude.ai and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the new version ships with the release that introduces the change.
